logging login failures...

Hi... sorry .. im swedish and my german is not any good so I will discribe my problem in english, then in "some kind of german" but not as detailed...

Im running a private bpft2.21 server with no problems... i have screen and file logging enabled that are logging everything but not "client commands" and "server answers"...

Sometimes... I use to notice that unknown ip addresses and unknow hostnames are trying to login but with faliure... I wanna be able to know which account that is beeing offended...

Typical login faliure of screen logging...
2004-02-07 20:35:21 - (000003) (not logged in) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > connected to ip : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, hostname : xxx.xxxxxxxxx.xx.xx.wp.xxxxxxxxxx.net
2004-02-07 20:35:21 - (000003) (not logged in) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > sending welcome message.
2004-02-07 20:35:22 - (000003) (not logged in) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > disconnected.

This is what I want it to look like...

yeah.. but it use to show 3 retries... sry.. didnt mention that... a typical ftp client connect

on the first connect i see no user to try login.
so i mean thats not a typical login with a ftp client.

what client u use? try flashfxp (http://www.flashfxp.com) or the best freeware client - Smart FTP (http://www.smartftp.com).
